Danny Yewell

d. July 5, 2022

Danny came to us from Memphis Animal Services. I had major back surgery and needed a companion to motivate me to get out and walk. A friend found Danny's picture on the MAS website and sent it to me.  He was just what we were looking for.

We went to MAS to find him and at first, we couldn't!  We were just to the point of be very disappointed when my husband found him.  What a happy little dog!! The more we talked to him the more he shredded the newspaper in his cage.  This trait would go on to involve rolls of toilet paper and anything with stuffing. We took his card, paid the money and waited for him to have his "tookie-ectomy" then we brought him home.

That was in October of 2012.  At that time Danny was one and a half years old so we gave him April 20, 2011, as his birthday.

He was named for the character that Donny Whalberg plays in Blue Bloods, Danny Reagan.

He has to be the smartest dog we've ever had.  He understood lots of words except "NO".  If you asked if he needed to go outside and he didn't need to he would sit down.  If you asked if he was hungry and he wasn't, he would sit down.  But if he needed to indicate yes, he would prance and bounce happily. If he knew we were talking about him in the third person, he would give us the side eye.

He loved to ride, enjoyed going to the vet, was the loudest burglar alarm you've ever heard, relished a rousing game of puppy tug with us or his doggie sister, Callie, loved other dogs and cats and there was never a doubt that he loved us as much as we loved him.

He had fought Cushing's for about two and a half years and finally it caught up with him. He crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Tuesday, July 5, 2022. The hardest day of our lives. We know he no longer hurts or suffers and that is a blessing.  We will always love our Danny Bug!
