Silky Johnson

d. September 6, 2019

In August, 2004, the best boy in the world was born and soon became ours for the next joyful 15 years. We named him Silky after the famous Memphis bar owner, Silky O’Sullivan. The perfect name since the barman and our pup both had extraordinary spirit. They both could make people fall in love and giggle, all at once.

We had grand adventures with Silky. We called him the best “rider” in the car. Quiet, content with a smile on his face. His destinations included many trips to Rosemary Beach and Greer’s Ferry Lake, plus cities including Indianapolis, Hot Springs, and Montgomery, just to name a few.

His presence in our home was full of joy. Everyday, he would walk with Owen and of course meet him at the door every evening with his tail wagging and waving. They were besties.

Sue enjoyed the quiet days with his presence. He is missed and always will be.

Our perfect boy did have his moments. As a puppy he managed to eat furniture, Timberland boots, and Owen’s glasses. One Easter, we kept him in the computer- room but he knew he was missing the party, so he did a little bit of mischief. All forgiven.

We will miss this exquisite Schapendoe (that’s a Dutch Sheep Dog for those that don’t know) until the end of our days. We are thankful for the many years of happiness we gave to each other. Our love is deep for Silky, now and forever!

We want to thank all four of our children (Liz, Brandon, Lauren and Matt) for understanding that Silky was our fifth child. To their spouses (Ryan, Jolly, Alfie and Joy) who loved him as well. To all of our grandchildren who played with him when they were in town. (Ben, Trey, Jack, Emma, Grace, Covey and River).

To our other family member, Bonnie Martin, who was always there when Silky could not go with us on trip.

Special thanks to Memphis Mobile Vets team, Dr. Moffat and Christine and the others that were so compassionate in this time of grief.

Thanks to Peebles Pet Services for their kindness and gentle handling of our best boy in the world.

With love and honor to Silky,

Owen & Sue Johnson
