It was a week before Christmas, 2017 when we drove from Memphis to Marrietta, Georgia to adopt Saundi from the Georgia House Rabbit Society (GHRS). Saundi had a rough start to her life. She was mistreated and suffered a fractured pelvis sometime prior to her rescue by GHRS in the fall of 2016. The GHRS volunteers found Saundi and her litter of baby bunnies on their front step. All, but one of her babies died. Saundi and her surviving son, Silas, were then separated and Silas was quickly adopted.
While at the GHRS, Saundi finally found some peace and stability. She spent many months in several foster homes, and then back at the GHRS after bonding attempts with other bunnies failed. As beautiful as she was, no one wanted to her adopt her, and so she languished at GHRS for a year. But then, she caught our eye one day as we were reviewing the GHRS website and saw pictures of her and the story of her painful and lonely life. So, we decided that we had to drive to GHRS and meet her. Once we met Saundi in person, it was love at first sight, and the rest, as they say, "is history." No words can do enough justice to this beautiful blue-eyed girl with her velvety soft snow white fur. Saundi was a sassy and smart velvety Rex girl who was a bit shy at first, but who came out her shell when given enough love and attention. She loved to play and run, or just snuggle to get petted. She was a gift from Heaven for us and filled our home with happiness ever since. Looking back, we realize that we were destined to find each other.
We miss you so much Saundi. If only we could hug and snuggle with you one more time. You were and will always be our sweet little Angel.
