Cookie Geschwind

d. June 7, 2018

Cookie Geschwind left this world unexpectedly on June 7, 2018.

We were blessed to have Cookie come into our lives in December of 2013.  Living thousands of miles away from home on the island of Guam, Cookie touched our hearts from the minute we brought her home.  We quickly learned that Cookie had an adventurous spirit as she enjoyed chasing down geckos and other critters that would get in the house.  She was independent and at times standoffish, but mostly she enjoyed cuddling up with either mommy or daddy.

In 2014 when we got her a brother, Chubby, she proved to be an excellent protector and companion.  A fond memory we hold is of her licking her little brother until he was soaking wet.  When we moved back to the U.S. she was introduced to her other brother, Codi.  Cookie held her own with the two boys as she always commanded respect and often proved to be the mediator between them.

In October of 2017, our baby was given the unfortunate diagnosis of Sudden Acquired Retinal Degeneration Syndrome (SARDS) which caused her to go blind as well as gain a significant amount of weight.  Our once independent "Cookie Monster” became more dependent in regard to daily activities.  Even with the challenge of losing her sight in a matter of a few weeks she constantly persevered.  Although her illness took so much away from her, her mom and dad cherished her more and more every day and never hesitated to help her when she needed it and provided encouragement to her to remain independent.

Cookie is dearly missed by her parents, Steve and Shan Geschwind and her brothers, Codi and Chubby.  We love you, miss you, and will never forget you!
