Bailey Hogan

Bailey showed up at my mother's house in 2002, seemingly out of nowhere, and wanting nothing more than a little bit of food and attention. I planned to find him a good home, but in the end, I could not stand the thought of giving him away. He was never one to meow much, but instead talked with his intense green eyes, always ready to stare as long and persistently as needed to get whatever it was that he wanted. His favorite pastimes included gazing out the window, begging for treats, playing with his toy mice, drinking water from the bathroom faucet, sleeping on my pillow every night, and of course, cat naps. He was a laid-back, easy-going cat, always ready to just go with the flow. He was also an experienced traveler thanks to several years of living in Virginia and flying back to Memphis on holidays. He once even got to ride in the cockpit with the pilots, after I was unable to fit his carrier under my seat, and afterwards the pilots remarked on what a good cat he was. He really was the best. He slowed down in his later years, but never stopped being his curious, determined self. Bailey died on March 27, 2018, and, until I see him again, he will forever be truly missed.
